Hurungwe East Suffers Communication Breakdown

Tengwe – Communication breakdown affected election updates within Hurungwe East resulting in only 21 polling stations out of 64 posting voting updates yesterday.

Zimbabwe Election Commission (ZEC) constituency election officer for Hurungwe East, Chakuvimbisa Kagoro told Votewatch263 that only 21 polling stations had submitted updates by 5 pm.

A total of 3 205 people voted at the 21 polling stations at the time of the interview.

He said some rural posts were situated about 85 kilometres from the centre. Kagoro added that only two people had been turned away over invalid identity documents.

Hurungwe district election officer Taona Pfunye said there were isolated cases of violence. The constituency has 14 947 registered female voters and 16 463 male voters.
